Nagarkot Day Hike, a pleasant country walk of short duration covering approx. 8 km. or 5 miles. The walk takes more than 3 to 4 hours, following a nice gradual path through a beautiful forest. Lined with tall blue pine, rhododendron, oaks, and fir trees as well as lush green vegetation. 
The views on walks abound facing the magnificent scenery of Kathmandu Valley with snow-capped peaks towards the north direction.
Nagarkot Day Hike leads to several rural farm villages, where one can capture local cultures of both Hinduism and Buddhism. The walk bypasses the motorable road, however coming across in few places, but soon our direction changes.
Heading uphill on leaving the main road at the small village of Tilkot, as walk follows to steep climb. Reaching a nice spot with a small lovely garden and the temple of Lord Shiva, the walk continues with the last climb. As the hidden hiking trail and motorable road meet, on reaching Nagarkot Hill Town.
On arriving at the upper Nagarkot Town areas, where many good hotels and resorts are located. Enjoy the comfort of a lovely nice hotel room facing views of the beautiful scenery of the Himalayan range of peaks.
Nagarkot is a famous Hill station and a popular weekend holiday for the city folks of Kathmandu Valley cities. The Hill Station offers grand views of sunrise and sunset reflecting on the chain of Himalayan peaks. Overlooking Manaslu, Ganesh, and Langtang Himal with Jugal Himal, as far as towards Everest range on the far-east horizon.   
After an enjoyable time, a Nagarkot with fabulous views of the sunrise over Himalayan peaks then heads back to Kathmandu. Where our wonderful Nagarkot Day Hike concludes, enjoying a marvelous experience around the hills of Kathmandu Valley.
Detailed Day Itinerary:
Morning by 7 a.m. our guide and staff receive you for Nagarkot Day Hike, a short interesting drive. The drive follows east of Kathmandu city on a nice highway, then the route diverts towards North-East. Reaching the outskirt town of Bhaktapur city, the driver heads on winding uphill to the small town of Changunarayan.
At Changunarayan have time to visit the oldest and most ancient temple of Nepal, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is listed as World Heritage Site, a serene and pleasant surroundings, and then start the hike. The trail follows through small villages and then enters pine and rhododendron forests, a nice refreshing walk.
Slowly the pleasant gradual walk leads to a climb from the small village of Tilkot near the roadside. The trail follows to reach a nice surrounding with a garden and shrines of the Hindu God Shiva. From this lovely spot, the climb continues through farm villages till the lower side of Nagarkot is reached. The walk leads to winding up on the motorable road for short hours, then reaching high Nagarkot Town. 
The walk leads to a serene path around lovely woodland, where the best hotels and resorts are located. Check into nice hotels, with time for a tour around the town of Nagarkot and the country farm village. Enjoy the overnight halt with striking views of sunsets over a chain of Himalayan peaks. Next morning, enjoy the stunning sunrise views over an array of snow-clad peaks, then have breakfast. Return drive back to Kathmandu, after an enjoyable and wonderful time on Nagarkot Day Hike.

Highest Point: 2,175 m / 7, 136 feet at Nagarkot Hill Top.

Location: North East of Kathmandu Valley Rim.

Hike Duration: Approx. 3-4 hours from Changunarayan to Nagarkot.
Best Season for Nagarkot Day Hiking:
All around the year, except on monsoon or summer season from June to August, the best time is spring. Starts from March to May, when days are much longer with enough sunshine, and can get overcast during late afternoon sometimes.
During spring one can enjoy the clear morning views of sunrise and the snow-capped mountain range. As well wildflowers will be in seasonal bloom, and morning and night will be cooler. The next best season is autumn/fall from September to November, days are crystal clear for views and walks. Cold morning and nighttime, the days are shorter due to limited hours of sunshine.
Interested people can enjoy hiking during the winter time of Christmas and New Year, most days are fine and clear. Best views of sunrise and sunsets as well for the panorama of Himalayan mountain views. Cold morning, late afternoon, and nighttime.
